Chihiro is scared of haunted houses? Really writer, you expect me to believe that a blood crazed zombie movie watching kid is scared of dark places? No, I will not accept that stupid characterization.
Just to get it out of the way I’d also like to say that the joke with the senile grandfather has gone stale. I’m no comedy expert but very few jokes get better with repetition and the thing about him thinking his food is something else isn’t funny anymore.
There wasn’t a whole lot going on this episode aside from the characterization of Rea which was nice but we got nothing from Chihiro. He continues to recorder her which is ultra creepy but when his creepy school friend comes along he is even more awkward which make Chihiro look like the perfect guy even though he isn’t. I suspect that this is a new way to win over girls that I haven’t heard about. If you surround yourself with guys that are more awkward then yourself then you will look appealing in comparison. It’s genius and I shall try it in real life, now I just need to find a bunch of awkward guys and a girl. I can see this being a huge problem so I’ll quit while i’m ahead.
Rea’s super strength became prominent this episode too when she swung around that huge park bench like it was nothing. I find it funny that after she saved herself Chihiro comes along and gets himself kidnapped like the knight in shining armor that he is. He put up a fight at least which is more than we can say about a lot of anime protagonists. I guess Chihiro is going to meet Danichiro next episode and have some kind of macho showdown in the mansion. Maybe fencing or something classy like that, there’s probably a golf coarse there too so that could be a civilized option.
