It was nice to see some more of Mitsuo Kubo’s backstory and just how frustrated that his murder has been taken lightly has made him become. The scene with him and Nanako in the supermarket must have been scary for Nanako. She is lucky that Yu has a knack for showing up at just the right time. He manages to step in and save Nanako from a deranged murderer and impress his cousin at the same time, all whilst retrieving a detached head. His constant perfect timing is leading him to become liked by his friends and family. That and his stunning good looks and understanding never give up attitude towards everything.
Naoto gets a lot of screen time this episode and it is explained that he is a detective for the police but is quickly becoming unnecessary as the killer has an attention problem among other things and all of a sudden wants everyone to know he is a killer. Any children or easily influenced people out there take note, killing is bad and is the opposite of cool. As the group discussed the murder in the noodle shop the best game reference ever was made concerning the menial ability to go and order a giant blow of noodle instead of hanging out with your friends after school. Yu quotes the text from the game which sounds ever funnier read aloud.
Teddie became a real boy this episode in style. The removal of his mask was a big event in the game too and actually got a anime cut scene which you can see here:
It was much more effective in the game simply because it had a longer build up and then pulled the animated cut scene out of nowhere which boosted it’s impact even more. At that point I really started liking Teddie as a lot more for obvious reasons.
Everyone who has played the game will know what I am talking about when I say I miss the fox hope he shows up soon.
