Upcoming Anime – Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi

Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi 1

GAH!? It’s a kamisama anime, in my recent history with anime those always look nice and shiny from the previews but as the episodes pass they fade away into dull story telling and obscurity soon being forgotten. In case you aren’t aware I’m talking about Kamisama Dolls and Kamisama notepad.doc… Don’t argue about them sucking because we are actually here to learn about  Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi and prey to some kind of kamisama that it doesn’t suck. Juniper’s Knot and Katawa Shoujo

Junipers Knot 1

Not exactly new and not even slightly related but this is what I’ve sunk a few good hours into this week and much to my surprise both were highly enjoyable in their own ways. Read More…

Dropping the plot bomb

Suisei no Gargantia 4

Ledo: Amy what’s that down there under the ocean?

Amy: My tears, from my so easily discarded love.

Ledo: Silly Amy, that’s what the ocean is made of but I’m being serious here. There is something important down there.

Amy: Maybe it’s the plot.

Ledo: Don’t be silly at best it’s another beach episode. Oh goodness you were right, the plot is down there!

A shining suit of plot armor

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S Plot Armor

The stunning suit of plot armor shimmers in the sunlight as the protagonist stands idly by a lake which events must occur at even though the protagonist has never been there before. That is the job of anything in the presence of the protagonist, sentient or not. Read More…

Upcoming anime – Watamote

Watamote

It’s actually called No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys’ Fault I’m Not Popular! but I don’t think anyone actually uses that title since it’s much too long and rambles about nothing for ages without actually mentioning anything sort of like myself. I read the entire manga in one hit because it’s good, awkward but good. It’s still ongoing so it falls into that category. Read More…

Mid-season Discoveries

Hataraku Maou-sama 1

This is actually a thing for me and it tends to happen consistently once every 3 months. Around episode 5-7 of the airing anime schedules I tend to get curious about something or other and pick up an anime which I previously overlooked. This seasons late pick up was Hataraku Maou-sama which I started watching when episode seven was released and what’s great about that is that I can have a mini marathon of a newly airing anime. It’s always thanks to twitter comments that I pick up these anime so props to you guys and girls for making decent suggestion when you’re not talking about your breakfast or random cats. Read More…

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S

I’m only a casual viewer of this anime series and thus I do not know or remember insignificant parts of the plot but what I do notice is the abnormal personalities and  it’s very prevalent in Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S and the series as a whole feels like the main character, Misaka is just trying desperately not to succumb to the insanity. Anime Movies you should watch Part 2

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

I blew the best anime movies on the first part of the list but it’s not all bad as some of these movie are equally good. Well… Maybe not since they are lower in the rankings but don’t let that put you off too much. These movies are still better than hundreds of other anime movies out there and if you haven’t seen one or more of them I suggest you get off you fat (or not so fat) butt and go watch them. It will take 90 minutes at most and it’s only 90 minutes you would have spent doing something less meaningful unless of course you are a scientist or a doctor or something super important like that. If you are one of those go do more important things please and the rest of us will enjoy these stunning movies and tell you about them later. Read More…

Why I instantly fell in love with Suisei no Gargantia

Suisei no Gargantia 1

I haven’t experienced this feeling for a while, no I’m not talking about love even though that’s what the title says. What I’m trying to say is I’ve never become hooked so quickly on a story before. Normally it takes time for me to become attached to a cast and a setting but it took just twenty minutes for me to be convinced that Suisei no Gargantia is my favorite anime this season and that’s saying something since both Devil Survivor 2 and Shingeki no Kyojin are great as well. Evangelion 3

I was excited about this movie…. That is past tense because I was excited but now I’m not. That’s because I watched it and although satisfied I feel it was the weakest movie in the series. Part of that is to blame on the crappy opening, it was animated okay but that space scene was seriously terrible and anyone who thought it was engaging or entertaining is lying to themselves I had no idea what we were going on. So the first seven minutes go something like this. Read More…
